    About Singapore Stamp Duty

Stamp duty in Singapore is a tax levied by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) on documents related to the purchase, sale, or lease of property. There are three main types every property owner should understand: Buyer's Stamp Duty (BSD), Additional Buyer's Stamp Duty (ABSD), and Seller's Stamp Duty (SSD).

BSD is paid by every property buyer and uses a tiered rate from 1% to 6% of the purchase price or market value, whichever is higher. ABSD is an additional tax based on the buyer's residency status and the number of properties they already own — Singapore Citizens pay nothing on their first home, while foreigners pay 60% on any residential purchase. SSD only applies if you sell a residential property within four years of buying it (for purchases on/after 4 Jul 2025), with rates from 4% to 16%.

Use the calculator above to get an instant, accurate estimate for your situation. Read the in-depth BSD guide, ABSD guide, or SSD guide for worked examples and exemptions. For specialist scenarios see our HDB stamp duty guide, rental stamp duty guide, ABSD remission for married couples, and property decoupling.
